JANUARY 2021 NEWSLETTER | NEW YEAR, NEW JAMS
New Year, New Jams
Hello Friends,
Okay, wow. Last week was a lot. I "said" a lot in all caps on various social media platforms, but think I'll just let Heather Cox Richardson's insightful interpretation do the speaking for me on the subject. Frankly, I'm still riding the emotional roller coaster and have through experience learned that it is best for me to calm down and think HARD before I speak.
It feels strange to pivot into an update about "here's what's going on with me." But there is some stuff going on with me, so here we go...
The Cliff Notes:
The Congress House Sessions now has an official release date! Friday, March 5th. You can pre-order a signed CD here or pre-order your digital copy here.
The kind folks in my Patreon community voted for their favorite Brad Bond design for this limited edition shirt, printed to order, in support of The Continental Club. You can get yours here.
I built a new website with the help of my friend Katherine Forbes from Designing the Row. You can check it out here.
Almost everything in my store is on sale! Some of these items are final run. When they're gone, they are gone forever.
I'm collaborating with my original homies Brian Douglas Phillips, Fred Mandujano, and Jacob Hildebrand on a track remotely. We've been threatening to do this for years and now we're finally doing it. STOKED.
I'm wearing the same shirt every day for a month for the environment. Did you know we typically wear one piece of clothing only seven times?
I'm excited to join Mary Gauthier and Gretchen Peters for their February Master Class. Join me?
How are y'all doing? Seriously. How are you? I love hearing from you, so please feel free to respond to this email. I'd love to know what is going on in your life.
Love,
Jaimee

It's kind of a long story (one I told on Patreon), but with the help of my friend Katherine Forbes of Designing the Row I built a brand new website! It's equipped with new press photos (thanks Laura Schneider), new bios, new sections dedicated to BGVS projects and songwriting cuts, and a special section dedicated to Red Rescue. I hope you have fun exploring!

BOB HILLMAN AND SPOOKY GHOST
Our last gig was in Seattle, WA. March 15th. Doors were quickly slamming behind us: the last meal at the last restaurant open in Seattle, the last gig at the venue, the last everything. As we boarded our plane to return back home to Nashville, three days into what was scheduled as a three-month tour, I received a message from my friend Bob Hillman. Side note: I met Bob through our mutual friend/hero Peter Case. Bob rules. Bob asked me if I'd be interested in singing on this collaborative project with Spooky Ghost. I did what I've done many times before: said "yes," and figured I'd learn how to do whatever it was that I didn't know how to do in order to get the job done. I have serious regrets about not learning how to record at home when my father offered to teach me and not asking to intern at studios in Austin. I truly love the art form and know how to get by on certain programs. Well, for this project I knew it had to be a ProTools situation so I Zoom'd my friend Chris Masterson and he showed me the ropes! This was the first recording project I worked on at home during quarantine and I'm super proud of it. As y'all know, I became obsessed with Spooky Ghost (David Bowie, Suzanne Vega, Donna Lewis) as a result of this project. Bob calls it "Folk Noise." I hope you dig it.
NEW YEAR SALE
No code needed! We're making way for new merch designs. A lot of these items are final run, so grab 'em before they're gone forever.
WHAT I’M DIGGING
I was super inspired by my friend Rachel Citron's end of the year reading list. For a writer, I'm seriously not well-read. So, I've set a goal for myself to read fifty books in 2021. Here's what I've read so far...
Kickin' Up Dust: My Friendship with Patsy Cline - Loretta Lynn
Lighthouse Keeping - Jeanette Winterson
Saved By A Song - Mary Gauthier
Some Go Home - Odie Lindsey
Speaking of goals, my friend BettySoo is taking the world by storm with her new Work + Play Every Day planner. I told Betty because it's in her handwriting when I don't complete my goals/tasks for the day I feel like I'm letting her down. It's super motivating and I love it. Check it out.
