May 2020 Newsletter | Mental Health Awareness Month

jaimee+harris+may+2020.png

Hello Friends,

I'm writing to you today from my den which has also become live stream central. I'm keeping my focus on all of the wonderful things I have to be grateful for... and how joyous it will be to reunite with friends and family. I've also been loving the new Joe Ely record, finally read Educated, and fell deep into the world of The Night Circus. Mary and I have been hiking every morning (she's been kicking my ass, but I'm starting to catch up) and preparing to plant veggies in our backyard (please reply with gardening tips...please).

May is Mental Health Awareness month. As an alcoholic in recovery and someone who battles depression, I know how hard it can be to get access to mental health care. Finances can be a barricade. Not knowing where to go or who to call can result in a freeze. While so many physical health heroes are fighting in hospitals, our mental health heroes have moved their appointments to telephone calls or video conference calls. Access to mental health can be especially hard for musicians, which is why a portion of the proceeds from every Listen to Women shirt sale benefit The SIMS Foundation. The SIMS Foundation helps Austin musicians gain access to affordable mental health and substance use recovery services.

How are you making your way through this time? Have you watched some great documentaries? Have you discovered some new artists via live streams? Are you lonely or reconnecting with friends and family during this challenging time? Hit "reply" to this email and let me know how things are going in your world. I love hearing from y'all.

Love,
Jaimee

CONSIDER A FRIEND: ELIZA GILKYSON

In mid-April, my friend Eliza Gilkyson released a wonderful new record, 2020. It's absolutely gorgeous, powerful, and as the title may suggest...timely. Several months ago, Eliza asked me if I would lend my voice to her rendition of "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall." Truly a dream come true. Have a listen. I know you're gonna love it.

BRAD BOND POSTERS ARE HERE!!!

I'm thrilled to announce that the much anticipated Brad Bond posters have arrived! Printed by Rural Rooster Screen Printing in Austin, Texas. Each poster has been signed and numbered by Brad. Be sure to follow him on social media to check out all of his wonderful, creative, inspiring artwork!

As you may know, I was a competitive Skeeball player for a time in my life. I still love Skeeball the most, but I've been working on my pinball skills like crazy! Are you a pinball fan? Williams or Stern? Pinbot or Bride of Pinbot? Let's talk about it. Check out the poster links to see my current pinball high scores!
