August 2020 Newsletter | How Do We Come Together In A Time Of Isolation?
We now live in a world without John Lewis. I, like many other Americans, have lived a life inspired by John Lewis's kindness, determination, convictions, and faith.
July 2020 Newsletter | How Do We Remain Curious?
I've been thinking a lot about curiosity this year. I found myself walking through a creative desert for a while. I wandered, constantly moving, but no songs were born. I could barely even listen to music. Prior to that time, I had always been willing and eager to check out a new-to-me artist. I was constantly scribbling down song ideas. Suddenly, it all stopped. In the process, I felt like I lost myself.
June 2020 Newsletter | Let’s Talk About Vulnerability
Any time I'm struggling with something I can't make sense of in my head, I turn to songwriting. It's helped me make sense of trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, and difficult relationships. I'm able to share in song what I am not able to speak. By sharing these songs I connect to others and it helps me feel less alone.

May 2020 Newsletter | Mental Health Awareness Month
May is Mental Health Awareness month. As an alcoholic in recovery and someone who battles depression, I know how hard it can be to get access to mental health care. Finances can be a barricade. Not knowing where to go or who to call can result in a freeze.
April 2020 Newsletter | Thirty In Quarantine
Mary and I had a restless night worrying about John Prine and everyone else fighting COVID-19. The doctors, nurses - everyone on the front lines. As a songwriter, it's frustrating to not have the words to articulate how we're feeling right now. So much confusion, anxiety, and waves of grief. But there's also so much gratitude. We have a roof over our heads, guitars to hold, good health, and a community of wonderful people to love (from a distance).

March 2020 | Goin’ Places That I’ve Never Been
March is here! Were you ready for it? How was your February? I had a wonderful time co-writing with my new friend Pat Byrne, meeting Robert Plant at the Australian benefit, playing at The Bluebird twice - and listening to our friend Gurf Morlix once (at the same table with Buddy Miller - OMG!), riding more roller coasters in Texas, catching up with my Texas music pals at the Corpus Christi Songwriters' Festival, sharing the stage with folk rap superstar Jana Pochop, and RECORDING AT CONGRESS HOUSE!

February 2020 Newsletter | The Congress House Sessions
In January I rode approximately forty roller coasters, had my first Twistee Treat in New Smyrna, became BFF's with Oliver Peters-Walsh (check out #oliveroftheday), released a single in The Benelux, and sang songs in an elevator with my best friends in New Orleans until the Sheraton security guard kicked us out. I've also been working really hard on three new songs. I've never worked so hard on editing, editing, editing! I feel myself growing as a songwriter and can't wait to share these works with you when they are completed.

January 2020 Newsletter | 2010 - 2020
Last night, we all said "goodbye" to a decade. I can't help but think of all that's happened over the past ten years. I dropped out of college (sorry Mom) and moved to the city of my dreams: Austin, Texas. I learned how to run a medical office; scheduling patients, bookkeeping, entering labs, filing, etc... I went to jail... twice. I got sober. I lost 150 lbs. I lost friends and family so dear to me. I gained a lot of friends. I shared the stage with my musical heroes. I found folks willing to dedicate their time to share the stage with me. Each member of my band put his / her heart and soul into what we created together. We started as four and grew to seven. I made my first record and went on my first world tour. I signed my first record deal. I found the sweetest love; more accurately, it found me. It's been a decade of evolution and profound change. Now, it's time for another big change.
November 2019 Newsletter | A Bit Of Business
After a WONDERFUL tour in Ireland and the UK I've been spending a decent number of days lounging around, catching up on pop culture, devouring new music, writing, dancing in my underpants, catching up with friends, and closely observing the historical events in the United States. But I'm looking forward to heading southeast for a quick tour with Mary Gauthier tomorrow!
